My eyes glazed over about 1/3 of the way through the first post.. I can't be bothered looking at the second. My advice to angry people is always, wait a few days and consider what you have drafted before before posting. You may often decide that it is inadvisable to post what was written in the heat of the moment. This process will likely save you a lot of grief. People need to always remember that once posted on the Internet, it is there forever! What people often don't realise is that in addition to the primary site in which the post is created, it can be copied by others to other sites and there are also search engines and other services that archive content for search and retrieval. Where law(s) have been broken, it is not difficult for the police or courts to obtain the identity of a poster through the proper legal process, unless the site or poster is located in another country. Even then it is possible if it is a country with which we have bilateral legal agreements. Such agreements have become much more common and more exercised in recent years due to the growing problem of SPAM and criminal use of the Internet.

I think he needs to make an appointment with the relevant Minister of the Crown (which is possible through his or her electorate office) and give him this information. It really needs to be followed up rather than remain languishing on a forum.
turboplanner Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 According to him he is already under serious attack, but sometimes, just as we overlook spelling and grammatical mistakes on this forum we need to look through at what is being written, rather than just write the person off. He says he is financially ruined and doesn't care what happens to him. Eightyknots I agree with you, the quicker it can be brought before the Senate, where people can be called in to give evidence under oath, and dealt with, the better.
facthunter Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 Whatever we have in Australia, it is not a good system. The CASA is the regulator. The problem is essentially in the legislation. We would be much better off operating like the FAA., although that may not be the optimum. The contest between the individual and CASA if it is executed is one-sided. Powerin Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 It's interesting, I went from reading that to reading a thread on the Nomad (only because RecFly was offline today of course), which led to reading a bit of history on the Nomad here... http://www.fourays.org/features_2005/nomad/nomad_1.htm At the end of this article (written some time ago) is yet another offhand comment about CASA corruption. CASA wouldn't allow ex-army Nomads to be sold on the civilian market. The comment was that no one was surprised because CASA officials didn't get overseas trips by allowing local aircraft to be sold. I'm fairly new to aviation...what is it about aviation that seems to attract more than its fair share of corruption and suspect business practices?

When the turbine beaver AAX was pulled out of storage and put back into action they all came out of the woodwork and lined themselves up to sign each other off with an endorsment on it. Over 5 hours were wasted on them and none of the paper work was signed until they where all happy. Everytime something new and different the same team rolled up. A bunch of Skydivers were almost killed by one of them when he insisted on flying the DC3 -CAN, stalled it on jumprun. Only the skills of a very high time pilot saved us. He will never set foot on a drop zone anywhere in the country. All of this was CAA days but same brush just different colour. BTW Talking of CAA has anyone here come across Jerry Commerford?

The Phantom was alleged to be a local station pilot who had lost his licence for some misdemeanour and was very unhappy with DCA as a consequence. He had an aeroplane without markings and regularly flew all over the north-west. Obviously, DCA heard about this and made a number of unsuccessful attempts to apprehend him. One day, he landed in Karratha and went into town to get some supplies. Someone phoned DCA in Perth and a bunch of inspectors set off in a Baron with all haste. Arriving overhead Karratha, they saw his aircraft still on the ground with him loading his purchases on board. The Baron was immediately swung onto final for a quick landing which was intended to block the miscreant's departure. Unfortunately, in their excitement, they forgot to lower the gear and, ignoring the hooter, continued to a landing on the centreline. Whoops!!! The Phantom watched them spilling out onto the runway and distancing themselves from the aircraft before throwing a last case of Emu (no doubt cold) on the front pax seat of his aircraft and executing a very neat shortfield departure from the remaining length of bitumen. They never did get him :clap2: kaz PS I have to admit I heard a lot of storys that were going around against authority figures in those days... a very independent lot the nor'-westers!
Guest ozzie Posted April 10, 2011 Posted April 10, 2011 The F27 that was used for checking nav aids etc did at least 3 gear ups over the years it was being used. The Baron and a couple of Cessna twins also had more than one gear up or overshoot.
