winsor68 Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 This is my Dad's former Libelle... He had a long association with this sailplane from the late 60's to the 80's... I almost cried when I saw this.
Guest Maj Millard Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Wasn't a bad landing Windsor....could have been worse !..................................................................Maj...
winsor68 Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 True Ross. My earliest memory is of my Dad deliberately ground looping her when the cable broke when they were experimenting with reflex launching in the outback. Its a strange thing because if you are talking sensibly there is no way I could remember this... I was less than a year old but it has been etched in my mind all my life. So I guess you could say this is the second time I have seen a minor oops with her... She is such a beautiful flying machine that touches me like no other.
Guest JRMobile Posted April 15, 2011 Posted April 15, 2011 Hi Win, Some classic footage in those vids, thanks for sharing. Did I spot the Mt Isa smoke stack in one of the shots?
winsor68 Posted April 15, 2011 Author Posted April 15, 2011 Thanks JR... The credit is really due to the people and pilots back then... I just digitalized it. Yes that is the old Mount Isa Copper Smelter stack.
