Story goes airforce and pongo candidate officers got into a "discussion" at the military academy, words were exchanged, including some to the effect that said pongos would never bow down to flyboys. The airforce CO's duly accepted the challenge and called on pongos whilst the latter were on a route march. Photos reportedly taken during 1961 and only recently surfaced; no longer matters I guess.

Not happy Jan, I won't be posting any more photos if the site decides how they get placed and stops me editing to sort out the mess. Kindly delete my original post mods.

There ya go, I agree, it is the better of the two.

Mod, problem I had was that as originally posted the photo order was reversed. Whilst stuffing around trying to sort out the order, I got a message telling me that my time for editing had expired. When I went back to the post, the edit button (next to report) was missing, so no way to get back in to add the second photo, nor more importantly to remove the photo if I were say asked to by say an aircraft owner. I'm afraid I don't post on sites that remove my right to remove photos, which appeared to be the case here. I see the edit button is now restored, as is my sense of well being.

Looks like there is another three aircraft lining up in the background of the first photo. Where was this? South Africa?

Yeah Ozzie, on the West Coast near the Military Academy at Saldanha. Had to laugh, sent these to a mate of mine whose old man flew for the SAAF, he immediately came back wanting to know when the photos were taken, his old man had quite a few hours on the plane where the number is visible and he had definite suspicions about the old boy's activities!003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif

In the second photo, assuming the camera was not moving, the guys on the beach must have been moving faster than the aircraft because they are the ones that are blurred.008_roflmao.gif.692a1fa1bc264885482c2a384583e343.gif

Yes, I'm sure that is the case and seems to be a logical conclusion
