Hi Guy's,

It's been pretty wet up in the top end over the last couple of weeks, so I've been grounded for a while.

Been going through all of the footage that has been taken over the year and here is some snippets of the trip from Bundy to Darwin in April. Sorry about the music, I had a couple of glasses of red while putting it together. Here's part one.

Kev.

Hi Mate,

The total hours for the trip was around 32 hours, I can,t remember the fuel off the top of my head and all of my paperwork is packed into box's at the moment, but I was using roughly 90L per day. I worked it out with all the extras that I carried on the plane that I was burning around 17L per hour. The camera is a Go Pro Hero mounted to the A Frame with a standard Go Pro mount, seem's to work pretty well. I have also mounted it to the tie down point on the wing and it seems to work just as well. I took it pretty steady on the trip up, flew from first light till around 11am then rested for a few hours. I then finished off with a few hours in the afternoon, seemed to work ok and it kept the fatigue levels down so I enjoyed the trip even more. Can't wait for the next one.

Thanks for reply. Your flight is a top effort. Well done. Cheers Mike

Break in the rain, barometric pressure up, enough strip to go, couldn`t resist a fly, absolute magic!

Taxiing to the dry spot.

Top pics once again Frank, loved the sunset one, water wise it's pretty much the same up here at the moment. Can't wait to get into the air again.

Thanks Kev, I try hard! I`m using an Olympus TG850! The sunset is straight from the camera! I take a look at each photo after I take it, if I`m not satisfied, I keep taking, just a matter of getting the Drifter back in the right position and that`s not hard to do.

If the strip at the Drifter shed is completely under water, I come up to the one that comes to the back of the house, take`s a big flood to put it under water, but it has happened, hope it doesn`t happen again,at least for my life time.

This is what happened a few years ago when I didn`t take it seriously enough....Flooded over night, no harm done though...That`s what happens when the Mulgrave and the Russell rivers are both in flood.

Hi Everyone,

Finally got back into the air after a couple of weeks of bad weather and the possum incident. I took a fellow forum member up for his first flight in an ultralight, Jarrath Haigh, a young bloke who's extremely keen to start his flight training, and he seem to enjoy the flight. You never know we may even have a future Drifter pilot. We took off from MKT and tracked to Southport, Darwin River Dam, Manton Dam, Adelaide River and back to MKT, all up, close to a two hour flight. It was another great morning flight, here's a few pics. Kev.202116631_Jarrathsflight1.jpg.e8d1e6f441b23e87d97c7a80aceb3450.jpg

Goodonya, Jarrath! Ultralight flying, doesn`t get any better, I know because I`ve flown quite a few different types, over the years! You might even get to do this one day.

Beautiful Franco, but where's the eye protection? Don't you get speed bugs?

Not compulsory, no one asks for any but I do have goggles if they want them! Never had anyone hit with a bug in 30 years...My choice and theirs!!!!

Mustn't have many bugs where you live....in spring, especially after rain, the whole of the leading edges of my airframe is covered in smashed grasshoppers.
