Garfly
That's FlightRadar24's flat earth rendition of the route. The article also includes their spherical earth illustration. Anyway, are you planning this route for the Drifter, Frank? Edited October 6, 2021 by Garfly 1

spacesailor
If the plane came from Antarctica, it must have past the the southern states to get to Darwin. OR Is Australia upside-down ?. spacesailor

Garfly
Yes, you bet I am, Frank. I'm filing down my toothbrush handle as we speak. I hope you'll, at least, let me bring a sweater and maybe a thermos of coffee? (Though I presume you'll be sticking with your FNQ formal: stubbies, thongs and T-shirt. ;- ) Anyway, I'm already well into my training. facthunter
If you go fast enough at a constant height you get lighter. THAT wouldn't happen if the earth is FLAT. About 5% of the US think it is.. Nev

farri
Flying some of our high country, this morning...We`ve only had a couple of weeks without rain and already the dust and smoke is in the air.
onetrack
Are you getting really smooth air, there, Frank? I would've thought you'd be getting some pretty strong thermals off that country, and heading into the warmer part of the year, by now? The video is very steady, it looks like a really good flight. There's some impressive mountainous country there, but I wouldn't like an engine failure in that neck of the woods! Do you have enough glide distance to make it back to the coastal plain? farri
Yeah! I knew it!.......... I only fly within gliding distance of a suitable landing area! always have, always will! that`s why I`m still around to enjoy my flying and make videos! I can talk from experience. What you don`t see in a lot of the footage, is all the farming land behind me that you could land a 747 on and I never point the aircraft where I can`t turn away, if the engine stops ...After all these years, I still practice dead stick landings, regularly! who else does? onetrack, I`m using a GoPro, Hero 8 black, with a wide lens and hyper smooth, stability! needs to be extremely turbulent to show it, in the video. Flightrite! at least I got your attention! Cheers. Franco. 3 1
