Ultralights Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Got some pics up, so, tme to show them.. Enroute, overhead Bowral/Moss Vale, cloud on the horizon.. above or below... After spending 3 hrs in a 40 kt Headwind, we finally arrived, after holding for 10 mins 6 miles west for the display to finish... perfect landing on 23 by someone... Temora council have made a great effort to improve things, nice new Oshkosh style sign... Yes, i think it WAS a Jabiru. Winner of the Scot Winton shield... flight home... nice and smooth flying, at 5500 ft. Once above the Inversion layer, surprisingly warm air at 7500, and a 5 kt tail wind! trip to YTEM from YWOL direct took 3.3 Hrs! return flight along same track took 2.1, a ground speed of 50 Kts at 4500 ft gives plenty of time to study the ground in detail... i have plenty of more pics from Temora but all include pictures of forumites and others so i wont post them...:)
sfGnome Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Back home from Temora. Got to meet a few forumites in the flesh; managed to not meet many more by the looks of it. Thanks for tracking me down Dexter. 'Twas a trifle cool at night! The blokes next to us were scraping ice off their plane before they could leave this morning! Dome tents were popular in our neck of the woods. The weather was a bit rough on Friday. Here's a bit of an indication of what it was like when we arrived, though our entry was a little more sedate... Still, it started to break up nicely in the evening. I know Ultralights has already posted a photo of this plane, but just what are you supposed to put into a heavy-lift aircraft that can only take 540kg all up? Twister and Foxbat during the display. A low pass. The flying bedstead. Day two ends... We left around 10am today when most people had gone, so the parking fields that were packed are looking a bit bare. Still, if you look closely, there's 8 a/c lined up and one just in the air. They were streaming out thick and fast. The two really memorable events of the weekend for me were a) flying into Temora listening to the constant stream of announcements on CTAF and then being one of three planes all turning downwind simultaneously (one from midfield, one from up field and one phaffing around near the turn to base), and b) flying home at 7,500' in pure bliss up above all the crap! Thank you to anyone and everyone involved in getting the extra height ratified. That was magic.

Guest aussie carl Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Yer it' is nice. Spent about 5hrs flying/steering it over the weekend. 13hrs in the air.Tone calls me his voice activated auto pilot. (George) Pitty I can't log any of the time yet. Your Avator photo looks very similar to mine. The "Red Fox" is very popular.

Gnarly Gnu Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Thanks for the photos folks! I started thinking RAA doesn't allow biplanes or anything too much out of the ordinary but I saw 3 right near the end of Neils photos, plus a neat looking flying boat & some nice gyro's. Must go next time if it doesn't fall on Easter again.
Gnarly Gnu Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Oh for most it's probably fine Don, just doesn't work for my family due to a long tradition of having an Easter camp with other friends over that weekend. But seeing all the photos and reading the news & comments here is the next best thing.
