bruceinOz Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Hi Aviators After a wander around Natfly this GA pilot has discovered there is NO aircraft that is large enough to comfortable fit in A very sad situation Has anyone got some ideas? Any tall pilots out there? Cheers Bruce
slartibartfast Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 The Morgan Cheetah and Sierra can be modified during build to fit anyone. Tons of room available. As usual with aviation there is a trade-off. Wider and higher means more drag and therefore slower cruise. I'm 6'1" and have heaps of room. There's still 12 inches in front of my feet before the storage divider. I raised the turtle deck a bit, and scooped the seat to the bottom of the cockpit. Comfortable as a very comfortable thing, and I've never hit my head.
Deskpilot Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Hi Bruce. Tried any open cockpits? You may have your knees around your neck but at least you won't have to stoop
rgmwa Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Bruce An RV-12 may suit you. http://www.vansairforce.com/community/showthread.php?t=63261 rgmwa
slartibartfast Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I find 5151 to be too big, It was like sitting in a house.... On a very comfy lounge... Infront of a huge wrap around HD TV with a great view being shown.... Then there's the BBQ....
HEON Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 That is a very nice aircraft BlackRod. Assume you are after a plastic fantastic? If not a Drifter has no height restrictions.
LimaMike08 Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Did you get a price for it Blackrod? Look expensive
farri Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 I once had a guy turn up, who was in love with Ultralight aircraft and wanting to learn to fly in the Drifter. He was a retired federal policeman, 2 metres tall and 145 kg. There was just no way I could instruct him in the Drifter. He went away a very dissapointed man. Hard to find a small aircraft for a big man ! Frank.
HEON Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 There I go again BlackRod with my i's and t's! Said to you "nice aircraft". Second line was for bruceinOz with his 1981.2mm height...Drifters do not have a pilot height limit, just more bug exposure! Never been to 10000 in a Drifter; only 8500. Very good view, but cold...it was in winter! You can ALWAYS park a Petrel in a hanger so no excuse BlackRod
Mick Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 The Skylark ( see my avatar ) I fly is really suited to tall people, I am 6' 2" and don't have the seat all the way back, I am currently 115kg and still have plenty of room. As it happens I would like to sell it ( read the wife would like me to sell it ), PM me if you are interested.
