Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Here are some links to my flights this weekend near Goolwa, SA, with my mate Ant (an Aviation Tragic). Apologies for the poor Camera work, its hard to fly and film!!
Gnarly Gnu Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Lovely area the south coast... I called into Goolwa a couple of weeks back, looks like it could be quite a busy little strip at times. Was looking at the Sportstar - is that Bass'?
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 Ha Ha ha Gnarly, i'm currently PMSL, it wasnt Bass, but i'd made a point of showing Bass's profile pic to my friend because they look so alike!!! Now I know it's not just me!. My friend Ant is from Qld and just loves planes, so he absolutely loved the flight!
Deskpilot Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 I've tried to upload videos but without success. How'd you do it. I have a Picasa web albums account, can that be used?
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Hi Doug, I signed up as a member of YouTube and was able to create my own channel into which I can upload videos. On the main Youtube page up the top right there is a link called Create Account. Click on that and follow the prompts - take your time to read each item before clicking through or entering info
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Camera is an 5yr old Canon PowerShot A450. It's a really basic still camera with video mode, but it does an alright job
Acky Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 SAJ, i did a similar flight on saturday with a mate. was a beautiful day to be flying :) I'll have to have a look at the pics my mate took and post them if they're good.
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Acky all flying pics are good!! I keep all my flying pics, even the ones out of focus or with something else wrong, it's like a record of my flying life
winsor68 Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 With the new technology available there is no excuse for not having lots of photos... lol My best camera is my current phone... it does ok for photos and videos.
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 It's funny that, up until recently I had a 2000era Canon Digital Camera... which kicked my fancy Fuji FinePix DSLR thingo.. and even my basic Canon took better photos than the Fuji. Lucky for me the Fuji was given to my ex during our lovely and friendly settlement process.... .. Still the little Canon was no good at Avalon - not enough zoom. My wife's iPhone thing has a great camera
Acky Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I was flying near Goolwa at easter time and came across the "Anzac" formation of Tiger moths.....there was 5 of them. I tried to take a couple photos with my phone. But you cannot see a single aircraft in the photos!! very disappointed. It's not the sort of thing you see very often!
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Yes it was great, I only saw them from home (in Encounter Bay). They were doing a coastal run, looked great!
Acky Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 Some Pic's for those not familiar with our part of the country! Around Victor Harbour/Granite Island, Port Elliot, and the Murray Mouth.
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Great pics Acky, they'd look good on my Facebook page
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 ... and what were you in when you took them?
Acky Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Put em up if u want SAJab.... they're allready on mine  or do u want high res copies?
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 ooo high res would be great... i'll pm you my home email address
Acky Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 in a J170 but have been down there a bit in a J230 as well. It's a nice little flight from Murray Bridge
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I flew the MBLAFS Gazelle a little while ago, was great fun!
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 First t/off Mike assisted as I was completely unprepared for how gentle you need to be - used to hauling back on the stick in the LSA and 230, this little thing needs a gentle rotation. First landing was assisted too, but then I was getting the hang of it. Cant wait to head back and do a bit more so I can get my LP Endorsement!
