Mis-use of radio??

Might sound a killjoy but that is illegal and selfish - if everyone did that the system would not work. Think of another way buddy, it's not that hard to. Personally I would have thought at least being with her at the time would have been, you know.... nice.

These public spectacles are funny when the receiver declines though....

I wonder if he was on a break...He did request an off std freq tho...

That's worried me as well. Was he distracted from doing his job. Were other a/c at risk whilst he proposed?

I'm convinced that controllers seem to think it 'cool' to speak very fast and not be clearly understood - the very opposite of what is required. I was flying into Rapid City, South Dakota in 1990 and had to tell the tower to slow down and speak clearly on two occassions.

There has been an update to this story. It turns out that the controller's girl friend was not on the flight after all. However the woman who was occupying the seat that his girl friend would have occupied, mother of three, grandmother of eight and great grandmother of 15, Edna Nurdelman, 89, has decided to accept the offer of marriage saying that its the best offer she has had in 60 years.
