Years ago, a very experienced Tiger moth pilot who got his AUF pilot certificate with me, purchased a Drifter, flew it for years then decided to get a second AC!!!...I forget the make of the AC, something along the lines of a LightWing, but remember that it had a 4 stroke engine.

He told me this is what happened!.......He had an engine failure in that AC and had to put down on an outback highway! There were trees all around and as he got to tree height he had to dodge the trees left and right of the road, so he had to do a couple of turns! When he put down, the AC swung sharply left, putting the left wing almost on the ground and the right wing high in the air! Around the corner, just ahead, came a 4 wheel drive full of people and it went straight under the right wing, without touching it.

Unfortunately, there was a fairly high bank on the left side of the road and the AC impacted it heavily! Lot of damage done and the AC never flew again!!!

A lot of people could have been hurt, if not killed, that day, but no one was even scratched!!!!!!

I find some of the comments funny on the video I posted, people thinking "Fake! Why would anyone coincidentally have two cameras filming this?"

They clearly don't accept that some people fly for the shear joy of it and like to film it!!

WRT the first one:

Ok, they are "local pilots" and all that, but so much for English being the international language for aircraft and ATC.

P.S.

Ok, (first link again) they landed. It is interesting that none of the traffic going the other way weren't slowing down and looking.

I guess they are used to seeing a plane land on the highway.
