Scottw Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I have a couple of shots I have of Peter in various aircraft. One of these Peter got off me, the Lightwing shot. Sympathies to the family 1
Guest Maj Millard Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 I only new Peter as a fellow Recreational Flying forumite. We enjoyed conversational banter many times, over the past three years or so. From conversations and info sharing on many topics, I drew a respectfull and fond picture of what I imagined Peter to be like, as a person. I supported him in his like for the imported Petrels, and I still believe he was on the right track there. I can also see from the condition and finish on the Drifter in the photo, that Peter certainly knew how to maintain his aircraft. As an 11 year Drifter owner myself, I know the level of effort it takes to keep an aircraft in that condition. I will regret never having met Peter personally...My deepest condolences to his family and close friends...........................................................Maj...(Ross Millard)
Spin Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Not a good photo unfortunately, but if I remember correctly Peter quickly moved out of shot once Dazza and I produced cameras and pointed them in the direction of his aircraft. Taken at the Jacobs Well Fly in October 2010.
Spin Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Found another one in the files - thanks to my wife fiddling with the camera whilst boy child and I went aviating. Boonah Oct 2010 1
flying dog Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Ok, would this plane have been to Wedderburn - the last annual flyin? I may have some piccies, but don't want to submit them if they aren' of this actual plane. That just wouldn't be polite.
Piet Fil Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Richard was one of my instructors at Cooma, his generous sharing of knowledge, kind words and cool head will be sorely missed in the right seat. I only knew Peter (Heon) through his sage words on the web, he could be relied upon for a thoughtful point of view and a passion for the sport. Both men will be missed by all that knew them. My thoughts are with all their family and friends. Phil Ridgway
408059 Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I shared hangar space with Richard and his father David at Polo Flat, Cooma. Richard and David built and maintained a Searey and I had many an enjoyable cup of coffee with them. Richard was an experienced instructor and passionate about sea planes and amphibians. He also owned a Foxbat float plane. He once said, with tongue in cheek, that he loved dropping into Tuross Heads on the South Cost and taking a dip at lake Jindabyne before returning home to 'clean' off. Richard was a gentleman, generous in spirit with a quick wit and laconic sense of humour. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and close friends. Funeral is 12pm Wednesday 6 July at Mitchell, Canberra.
flying dog Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 With all the posts of who they were, I am now 99% sure I know Richard - or his family. I went to school with Gordon. His son or brother. I honestly have lost track of time. I also extend my sincerest condolences to the entire family and those who have suffered a loss.

Gordon was the elder brother to Richard. Sad occassion but good send off yesterday. The attendance of a number of past and present RAA staff was appreciated. Cheers Steve
flying dog Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Steve, Thanks for confirming that. Though that maybe isn't the best word in this case. I guess though it does show people how small the world is. I haven't seen Gordon or Richard in about 30 years. (Probably more.) Again: All my best to the family.
winsor68 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I only realized when I saw this thread that I met Peter at Monto and photographed his Drifter... she is the most immaculate machine. Good luck mate and bon voyage.
flying dog Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Ok, I've been on 4 weeks of "fun" and just got back. Did I send someone the picture or not? (I'm still jet lagged. Well, that's my excuse.)
