CASA wishes to advise of a new Standards Development project:

 

MS 11/18 - Review of Advisory Circulars relating to limited category and experimental aircraft:

 

1. Amateur built Experimental aircraft-Clarification of maintenance requirements,
    
    
   
2. Amateur built Experimental aircraft ,flight over built up areas-new procedures and limitations
    
    
   
3. Limited category aircraft- Introduce updated Permit Index system
    
    
   
4. Housekeeping changes to AC 21.4(2) and AC 21.5(0)

Yes Shaun - elaborate please! What privileges do you imagine are threatened by frank open discussion, and what's brewing? I'm sure a number of outside bodies are watching the RA-Aus antics with incredulity and one couldn't fault any of them for questioning our ability to self govern. The seemingly desperate push to confer PPL privileges to Rec pilots without all the financial and personal hard work involved is a case in point. If you have a valid discussion point - make it and don't beat around the bush

I note that the term "amateur built experimental" is used. The kit I put together is registered as a 19-0000 but is recognized as a 'type' aircraft. Nowhere does it say experimental in the registration. Are you not getting confused with CASA registered experimental aircraft. However, as I mentioned before, until they send me a letter, I am letting my letter from RA-Aus be my authority to fly over built up areas.
