pudestcon Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I have just been given 2 boxes of magazines - or more correctly editions of "The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Aircraft". Starting at edition #1 through to edition #211. They are a British publication. Does anyone have any idea on when these were produced? I can find no dates on them at all - each edition is identified with a number, that is all. The price for each edition was 80p or $1.95 Australian. Pud
pudestcon Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 Wikipedia gives this information, plus a whole heap more...... The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Aircraft was a weekly magazine by Aerospace Publishing/Orbis Publishing that was published in the UK (and sold in other countries too) in the early 1980s. The magazine was intended to eventually make up a multi-volume encyclopedia dedicated to aviation. Starting in 1981 the magazine lasted for 216 issues, each of 20 pages (plus the cover), making up 18 volumes (4280 pages). The first two issues were sold together for the price of one, subsequent issues were sold on their own. I'll have to go check see if I have the complete set.
