Guest Howard Hughes Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 All part of the journey, just keep looking skyward and dreaming! I sometimes wish the weather would stop me flying, but sadly it doesn't!

Guest davidh10 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Chin up Jake. It will happen. I suspect we have all been there... I recall over a month without flying at one point due to weather and personal commitments. Take the time to do some extra study. You can never know too much. Last night was a quick return to the aerodrome. 25-30kn wind at 90 degrees to the runway at 3,000', but only about 5-7kn on the ground. Quite a lot of wind shear on the way down and 76kn ground speed on base (55 ASI). Still, an enjoyable flight.
.Evan. Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Keep your chin up Jake! I'm in the same boat. Itchin' for a fly - yet every time I book the aircraft the weather is sh:censored:t! You poor buggers!!!...............I`m about to put down the tools, walk down to the Drifter and go!.......Up....Up.... and away! !!! That's just nasty, Frank! 1

farri Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 That's just nasty, Frank! Ok guys! I suppose I was just a little bit cruel,so I promise to take you all with me, when I go up again, over the weekend and this is what you`ll get to see!!! Frank.
.Evan. Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I promise to take you all with me, when I go up again, over the weekend!!! We're all there with ya, Frank! But, how are we all going to fit in the Drifter?
.Evan. Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 The wind is probably strong enough here in gusts that you could point the Foxbat into it and takeoff on the spot! Do that on the simulator - it's great fun!
farri Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 how are we all going to fit in the Drifter? Krikey, Evan! That`s easy!.. Didn`t you know I`ve got a magic Drifter!.. I can add more seats?..Over the weekend, Just look at the photos I posted and you`ll be sitting there !!! Frank. Ps, :ranting:Got a wall on the side of the house to finish building before the rain comes back next week!..... Better go!!!
Tomo Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 The wind is probably strong enough here in gusts that you could point the Foxbat into it and takeoff on the spot! Tie the aircraft to a post with a length of rope and face it into the wind, you can do some flying with the engine off... you won't go far though....
.Evan. Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Krikey, Evan! That`s easy!.. Didn`t you know I`ve got a magic Drifter!.. I can add more seats?..Over the weekend, Just look at the photos I posted and you`ll be sitting there !!! Thanks Frank! I'm there! Good luck with the wall project! :peepwall:
Guernsey Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 Tie the aircraft to a post with a length of rope and face it into the wind, you can do some flying with the engine off... you won't go far though.... That could be interesting when you enter 40 hours flying in your flying log book (more bad weather on the way) but no hours in the aircraft log book. Alan Marriette. 1
