Guest davidh10 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Well, it isn't any great shakes, but it is more of a proof of concept. The clip is of me returning from an evening local flight. You can see the sunset colour in the sky. I suspect the low lighting didn't do the camera any favours. It was actually filmed by another pilot, who presented me with the clip after I landed. Now I know what is possible, I'll work on something a bit better, taken with my own camera.
pudestcon Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Very nice David, A slick landing that seemed quite fast. The wing tip light makes you more visible as well. Pud

Actually not one of my best landings, but ok, and certainly not my worst ;-) I generally land between 55-60kn. It gives better stability with turbulence, as we often get mechanical turbulence off the hangars. The nav lights and strobes are AveoFlash units. As they are LED lights, they don't take too much power either. I'm pretty happy with them as they can be easily seen from about 5miles. I originally fitted them because I do a lot of evening flights, landing just before last light, and it was pretty obvious that at that time of day, I was invisible. They really work well. The other night I was No2 for landing with 3 a/c on base and it was hard to pick the aircraft type ahead of me as a Tomahawk as there was quite a bit of cloud on the horizon, and looking to the east, at No. 3, all I could see was his lights.

I haven't tried that yet, but I made a camera mount to clamp my Canon G9 onto the control bar. As it takes video as well as stills, although primarily a still camera, I think I can get some good clips from it.
