Guest davidh10 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 The ATSB has just published a report of an R22 crash which has highlighted an issue with programmable ELTs. http://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2011/aair/ao-2011-055.aspx Although alerting on 121.5MHz, it failed to do so on 406MHz, due to incorrect programming. Apparently there was only a subtle indication of the problem and ATSB will devote a future safety article to this subject. In the interim, anyone using a programmable ELT should familiarize themselves with the procedure for checking correct functioning of their unit.
