Guest ozzie Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Came across several new engines and a neat oil filter cooler by Airwolf. A little V twin that was fitted to the front of a modern version of the Morgan 3 wheeler A 56 kg diesel twin. And an interesting axial piston engine from New Zealand that looks very compact.
fly_tornado Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I found a used PSRU to suit a S&S vtwin on ebay a couple of years ago, clicked through to the sellers other items and found he was also selling all the parts needed to build an engine less a rod and crankcase.
skyfox1 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi who makes the diesel engine and did you get any pics, l have always been intrested in diesel aircraft love to put one on my drifter..
fly_tornado Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi who makes the diesel engine and did you get any pics, l have always been intrested in diesel aircraft love to put one on my drifter.. A diesel sidevalve?
Guest ozzie Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 The link to the diesel website is on the photo.
skyfox1 Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 The 56kg engine in the pics is petrol not diesel
Guest ozzie Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I saw several new types of engines there. a couple were multi fuel types. I have the brouchers coming over by mail in a box of goodies. I don't think these guys were handing out any info tho. Their website is a bit sparse of real info as well.
fly_tornado Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I wonder how long that d-motor will last though, don't side valves have issues with head gaskets due to the lateral forces in the combustion chamber?
Yenn Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I doubt that side valve design would put lateral forces on a head gasket. The compression ratio is lower than OHV, so the pressures must be less. For an engine to be "Diesel" it must be compression ignition, not spark ignition. The injection in non diesel engines is just a means of getting fuel into the cylinder, whereas in a diesel it is also the timing for ignition of the mixture and also volume of fuel.
