... and Aerochutes ... - for us its due to torque forces requiring more weight on RHS. (I assume its the same for the gyros)

Why is it that helos and side by side gyros are flown from the right hand side?

Yep as Peter has described its to counter the torque of the rotating prop. In this case a 74 inch wide cord patroney being spun by the 2.5 litre 165hp fuel injected Subaru. This also applies to piston powered helicopters, eg Robinson R22-44's as you described.

okaaay, then I guess a single seater tends to lean to the left?

Single seaters dont usually run the high HP engines and dont suffer any real torque issues. Rudder offset, head offset and engine offset are 3 other ways in which to minimise this issue.
