Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Makes for interesting reading, although this has been bandied about for some time now. http://www.news.com.au/travel/news/pilots-are-forgetting-how-to-fly/story-e6frfq80-1226126153239
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 ... I can draw a parallel with my work, I dont use an electronic diary. My diary is a traditional, day-to-a-page one. It doesnt lock up, reboot, crash, or have all its contents wiped. People are surprised that as a computer geek, I dont use an electronic one. Shows how much faith I have in gadgets!! So yes CFI, you're dead right!!
Gnarly Gnu Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I was recently in the US and invited to a party by a bunch of ex-USAF pilots most of whom now fly long haul commercial and freight runs in all manner of big birds. Had a good chat about the Boeing vs Airbus control systems, they liked several aspects of the Airbus but unanimously considered the computer control was over done to the extent that the pilot is at times left wondering "what is it doing now.... why did it just accelerate?" and the like. The distraction of that alone can't be good.
