Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 That's pretty chilling vision, especially when you see what appears to be quite clear ground in front on the plane at the start of the video.
rick-p Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Am I correct in saying that the plane was found with the bodies some 3 years after the crash? I don't know but just call me simplistic but does anyone else think what I'm thinking, the pilot had an heart attack. The phtographer said hang a right but they were turning right weren't they? Unusual to say the least.
winsor68 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 I think it was the elevation... Pilot just stalled. And yes... apparently the footage was found in the aircraft with the occupants 3 years later.
winsor68 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Combine that with a turn into rising ground... a recipe for disaster.
Litespeed Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 So very sad. I think he just made some bad decisions, had insufficient lift and airspeed for overly steep turn which was definitely to the wrong direction . The other had open landing areas and decreasing slope. We should always be very careful of tiger country esp a valley of such height. Pilot error- If he was having a heart attack, you could expect the pax to take the controls. I am sure the whole tape was investigated and we only saw the important bits. Just a sad case of multiple errors ending in disaster. Lack of situational awareness on many fronts and it killed the pilot and passenger. Many lessons to learn from this.
winsor68 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 That is the pilots voice at the end saying "Hold on"... I don't think it was health related.
