P4D Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hope this works ok Here is an twin with its shadow reflected on the water. Hope you can see it too. Google coordinates 25°19'41.23"S 152°34'39.41"E
Owi Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Golly! Where was he going to or coming from at such a low altitude? I don't see any airstrips nearby.
Tomo Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Flew past there the other day... but I didn't see it! Could be en-route to Bundy
P4D Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Could that be a survey plane looking for a new coal mine perhaps?
Deskpilot Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 That's not it's shadow. Look at the second bridge and note it's shadow direction. That puts the sun to the north east (roughly) The planes 'shadow' puts the sun south east. Also, why is 'it' multi-coloured instead of 'black'? Please don't say water refraction.
kgwilson Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 It looks fake to me. It has no profile & has a black border all round it not just on the shadow side like the houses etc & what on earth is that multicoloured thing in front of it. If the black border is it's shadow, it's flying lower than the bridge to the left and all the trees. Very odd.

horsefeathers Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Its just an artifact of the way the photos in Google Earth are put together. Something to do with the very slight timing difference between exposures. Fast moving objects can often display these false colour images.
Kyle Communications Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 If you want to see a good one go to 52:20:10:90 N and 0:11:43:30 W then go to view and turn on historical imagery and select 12/2003.....you should see a lancaster flying no doubt from a airshow Mark

If your observations are correct, they're all fake. Take a look at Heathrow - looks like a major shopping centre parking lot. I find it a bit interesting trying to track the line along the runway looking for the furthest aircraft taking off away from / landing towards the runway. Cheers,
flindersflyer Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Does it look like a DC3 to anyone else? Looks a bit like a KingAir 350. Could be RAAF doing NDB calibrations??
kgwilson Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 Take a look at Heathrow - looks like a major shopping centre parking lot. Looks like Heathrow to me and all the aircraft have correct shadows and they are on the ground. The resolution of the aerial shot of Heathrow is far better and in the Burrum pic it is poor so there is no depth of field so it looks like it is at river height. I don't think it is fake it just looks fake. The A/C is just an outline unlike the Heathrow shot in which you can determine the A/C type, airline by colour scheme etc
