Nev25 Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 It would be interesting to learn what Aviation Magazines everyone buys regularly (if Any). It Would be also interesting as not all Magazines are available in all Newsagents. What Mags Do You Buy??
Admin Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I subscribe to: Australian Flying - great magazine as they do include the recreational flying element as well as GA and other Computer Pilot - good for those that have MS Flight Simulator although it does often have some good general training articles that can be used in real life
Ben Longden Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Australian Flying and the RAA mag... I would love to buy all the mags in the newsagent, but I need the $$ for the lessons... ;) Ben
pylon500 Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 I receive the RAA mag and usually buy Pacific Flyer. I also receive (as an EAA member) EAA Sport Aviation as well as Sport Pilot. This used to be called Experimenter, but was changed with the advent of LSA's (it does seem to repeat a lot of info from the primary Sport Aviation mag) I look at Kitplanes (usually in the newsagents) and will sometimes buy Classic Wings if enough articles appeal to me. Arthur.
hihosland Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Raa & SAAA and occasionally as the whim takes me and what is in each edition probably an average of 2 mags a month from the newsagent Australian flying Aust AOPA Kitplanes Air and Space Flight path & rarely Pacific Flyer Davidh
Yenn Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Occasionally Australian Flying if I am away from home on holiday, I also like the English mags. Pilot and Flyer. Used to get Kitplanes but after about 4 years it seems to be a lot of the same. I have to be away from home to get near a newsagent who stocks these mags.
Guest Fred Bear Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 RAA mag (obviously) sometimes get copies of Australian Aviation and yeah, I love Zoo Weekly, Ralph, FHM etc...
River Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 For my 'Twenty Cents' worth... For my twenty cents worth... :;)3: On a monthly list, Our RAA mag (AU), GAPilot (AOPA AU) Australian Flying (AU), Pacific Flyer (AU), KitPlanes (US), Flyer (UK), Today's Pilot (UK) plus various specialist defence/military journals... ;) Cheers team, Rodger
Guest Crash Lander Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 RAA mag obviously. Got a subscription to Australian Flying too. I used to get PC Pilot and Computer Pilot, but they got too dear for what was in them.
Guest Juliette Lima Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 RAA mag AOPA Australian Flying Flyer (UK) Todays pilot (UK) Plane and pilot (US) Flight training (US AOPA) Overseas mags (UK) too costly although occasionally there is a great training article. Flight training (US) is a newie to me, good value.....three issues so far....and there are always some gems of flying wisdom....Landings, takeoffs, attidude flying, 10 tips to improve your whatever...and so on. Wish RAA could do the same. JL Opps, forgot Pacific Flyer
Ultralights Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 The CASA crash comic! oh, thats free, um, the RAA mag, oh, thats free also... yep, im a tight ****! and dont regularly buy magazines..... rick-p Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Hi everyone, I don't think that there are too many magazines that I don't get on a regular basis ( things with wings I mean, just to set the record straight). In fact I was for a long time a collector of aero mag's from models, ultra lights, sports, GA and heavy metal. I had a shed full of flying magazines in boxes and lose, some going back 50 & 60 years but tragedy struck and the collection was decimated whilst I was away on extended leave by a monster mouse plague. Without exageration there were hundreds of thousands of mice. They just ate there way through everything and what they didn't eat they destroyed with their waste biproducts. I was only able to save a few hundred magazines out of possibly thousands. The magazines weren't the only things the mice destroyed but that is another story for another time. I always find Australian Aviation a good read. Another magazine that has not been around for very long that I find very informative and a good read is Aero Australia. It really does cover the field. Classic Wings is great if you like old timers and magic photography of old aircraft. I basically buy all local content flying mag's which for the price are not bad as they do keep you current as to whats happening on the local scene. I don't go much for US mag's as in most cases they are expensive, boring and irrelevant to the local scene. Thats about it for me. Rick
Guest joe Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Over The Airwaves not a mag but an E-Newsletter (sorta thing) that comes out twice a month from a very experienced & contemporary Yank CFI. Its FREE, is big on safety issues & full of good aviating stuff. check it out at: http://overtheairwaves.com/ cheers, Joe
Guest TOSGcentral Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 Interesting responses - Particularly as Pacific Flyer started with Ultralights and expanded to Rec Flying. Over the last few months Pac F has really turned on the taps with very practical articles on training and basic technical stuff while keeping up a lot of general interest. Tony
Guest Redair Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Australian flying Pacific Flyer Aviator Kit Planes Recreational aviation mag, but it does seem to turn up about a month after it hits the shops!!! Is it just me or does anyone else have this problem? I thought if you became a member you would get your mag early!! Redair
