I'm a little astounded at the fact that it's been two years since I achieved my RAAus certification....which means my BFR is due this month.

So it's a bit of a toss up at the moment, do I knock over the BFR and get it out of the way or do I get that cash and keep up the hours in the helicopter. I haven't flown in ages, it'll be good to get back up in a fixed wing again soon.

Decisions, decisions......

So Brett, I followed the original postings where you were working out whether to go commercial or not.. Now that the trainings all done, what is the next step? have you got a heli related job yet and what do you reckon the costs of training were to get to the full commercial license?

Hey Andy!! Working for Bristow Helicopters and Heliwest at the moment doing ground crew work, just getting some contacts and making a plan at this stage. I've only topped 123 hours so far but I'll keep on with the private hire situation for now. I'm planning on getting about 1 to 2 hours of private hire time each month or so taking friends and family flying. I've thrown a few resumes out, only to get some feedback on how it looks and that's been pretty positive so far.

There's not much change out of $70,000 for the CPL(H) and I did it in just under 120 hours. At this stage, I'll plan a road trip up north to meet some contacts I've made and then head over east mid to late next year to do some more door knocking.

Do the BFR Brett, an hour or two in the fixed wing aircraft now will look cheap as chips compared to an R44! 003_cheezy_grin.gif.c5a94fc2937f61b556d8146a1bc97ef8.gif

I was thinking the same Tomo but two hours in the fixed wing is equal to a good hour in the R44 or hour and a half in the '22. It's all hours towards the career. cficare's right, when I want to use it next I'll do the BFR before getting back up again.

I have a good mate of mine over here who's bringing an aircraft in from the US but the plan is to have me fly the R44 and get some air to air footage of his first flight. Might put the money towards that instead.
