This morning I look up to hear a 912 flogging along behind a trike. Its 9:30am in the morning Coffs class D airspace has been active for sometime. and over my house is well inside the boundary.

I didnt hear or listen for any radio calls so it could all be legit, but I doubt it given it didnt sound like a straight transit through, more like a poke around over here and then lets look over there engine RPM's up, then down then up etc etc and then lets go somewhere else, not just straight through..

How does this happen? how is it possible to get a license without knowing about airspace classes and who and when you can enter....

Makes me grumpy every time I see it, and its reasonably regular around here. If its dodgy, and thats plain supposition on my behalf, its my ability to fly that is being f^cked about with! I suspect Im preaching to the converted but hopefully teh message will get through. I should have taken a photo to get rego No's..... but didnt.

i wouldnt consider it a problem, as said before, if before 935, no issue, even so, how do you know the aircraft isnt equipped with a transponder, and the pilot appropriately licensed?

hmm seems I need to pull my head in. I obviously havent looked in ERSA for a while, coffs starts early during the week and I thought about an hr later on the weekends, obviously that has been pushed back further...

As to if I know if they are licensed and equiped, I dont and made that clear in the original post, my concern was that if the tower was open,, which I assumed (yeah yeah ass u me ....) then I doubt someone who had the ability to transit would do so in a way that involved a look here and a look over there and back over here etc..

Anyway, apologies to who ever was flying, the tower was likely shut at the time and therefore class G....help yourself.

Back to my rock :<)

Dunno Andy, still seems like a reasonable question to me, after all if he were well within the boundary at 9.30am, there is a very good chance that he wasn't clear by 9.35am......or was cutting it unnecessarily fine. Correctly equipped, who knows.
