hendonguy Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Can you use a ej22 Subaru with direct drive or do you always need a prsu?
fly_tornado Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 I would think that you would be better off with a PSRU. Modern car engines are designed to pull under 3000 rpm
peter Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 IF you check out the yahoo aviatin subaru users forums there is a heap of information on the topic. You can certainly use an EJ22 direct drive - check out Jon Finley's website. It all depends on how much horsepower you are looking for. I am currently in the process of attempting to repower my plane with an EJ22 and have fitted an autoflight reduction PSRU, I am hoping to get 120+ horsepower out of it and want to run it at around 5000rpm Cheers Peter
RickH Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 If you can get a look at a set of engine power/torque curves they will give you H.P. output at selected R.P.M. You can decide from there if you need a PSRU or not. RickH
