Tomo Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Coming back from out west the other day, Brissy Center told me about a C-17 Globmaster flying between Goondiwindi and Warwick at 300ft. Now wouldn't that be something to see, we've had C130's fly over our property at 300ft or so before, but seeing a C- 17 do that would be something, wouldn't it?! http://www.globemaster.de/c-17/index.html 1
farri Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Yeah Tomo! That would be something!! A while back, I was at a 1000 feet AGL in the Drifter, heading south, when an F111 flew past, also heading south, at the same altitude and only about five hundred metres to my left. Frank.

Frank. Crikey Farri, that must have focussed your attention! I was once visiting a hilltop mansion and looked down to see one of those beasts coming up the at us from the valley below (pilot was apparently buzzing the wrong house). It's an awesome and quite sobering experience. Checking NOTAMS just doesn't seem enough, if they are likely to use "our" airspace at high speed.
Litespeed Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I reckon a change of underpants would help. Would the F111 actually feel the impact or would you be like a large insect and something to clean off?
farri Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 No change of underpants required....Never knew it was coming, never felt a thing, only saw it as it flew past...AS it passed it banked hard left and flew over a gap in the mountain range.... I enjoyed it in fact! I know not everyone agrees, but to me, a miss is as good as a mile. Frank.
