Chris Tarran Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I guess I'd be classsed as a lurker. I get a great deal out of some of the threads, particularly the student support section but don't feel I have much to add at this stage (as a learner) and especially as my flying is on hold at the moment.:bad_mood:Keep posting guys, I'll keep reading.
turboplanner Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Maybe it would be better to post during the day CFI.
facthunter Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Being "game " to post may be a factor. Nobody should feel intimidated. ( but some may). I would encourage " newer" posters to participate, but be prepared to justify your point of view if challenged to substantiate it. It could be helpful and it is not your fault if you have been told something that is questionable. None of us are right all the time and I have heard some ridiculous statements from some "high" authoritative sources over the years. Nev 3
Gnarly Gnu Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Maybe it would be better to post during the day CFI. I prefer his late night posts AKA drunkblogging...
David Isaac Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Especially Friday nights eh GG, they are the best ... LOL
Bryon Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I prefer his late night postsAKA drunkblogging... I resemble that remark..hic..................................................................................................................hic...
Guest SAJabiruflyer Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 B Bryon, Today at 2:26 PM....... 2:26pm Bryon can justify this by the simple statement "It may be 2pm or so here, but it's scotch o'clock somewhere in the world. Thats close enough". Unfortunately my single malt is empty and I have not yet managed to find someone to give me another bottle.
Bryon Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 BBryon can justify this by the simple statement "It may be 2pm or so here, but it's scotch o'clock somewhere in the world. Thats close enough". Unfortunately my single malt is empty and I have not yet managed to find someone to give me another bottle. "Oh ye of little faith, be of good cheer, for there is always a bottle of scotch near" thus spake Single Malt the great spirit of whisky. And it came to pass that all who asked were gifted with the holy drink and all rejoiced.......................................
Guest Maj Millard Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Xmas is close Byron, the season for single malted gifts !...................................Maj...
turboplanner Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 This is a time for all those who demanded travel stories to swing into action.
Guest davidh10 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Possibly something to do with it taking quite some effort to post well researched material with references.... A certain event a while back erased a lot of that... causes one to ponder... or lurk... Can't help feeling that the character of the site has irrevocably changed...
fly_tornado Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 all forums have a large amount of lurkers, not everyone has anything to say, just because CFI is enjoying this past time doesn't mean anything has changed in this forum for the vast majority.
Admin Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 That's a bit of a silly thing to say isn't it David? You are the ones that post, you are the ones that create the "character" as you say or the culture but you are also the ones that have to be mindful of ALL other users as well...the site isn't here for just a small group of users to make it their own little grandstand but really for ALL the many users that have different interests and mindsets within the same overall common interest...FLYING. Instead of blaming someone or something else with posts you are the only ones that can make this site friendly, or sad, or whatever....is it not just in one's own mind now! Personally I think threads like this just serve to shoot one's self in the foot as they don't add value to the site, Guests see and judge so they don't join and post, or just become lurkers, and around it goes, that is why I think it is cutting your nose off to spite your face. We have a PM system where you can say how you feel, make constructive criticisms etc to me as Admin but you would rather post that instead of posting something that everyone would appreciate and PM'ing me your other thoughts...you can do that any time you like...hell, you can even ring me on 03 9444-8025 for a chat if you like and then be a part of creating a great resource for not just yourself but every one of your colleagues flying around in the same skies as you
Guest Andys@coffs Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I happen to agree with David to a certain extent. Politics is part of life, if there is no politics its because your self epmployed as a single contractor...or dead. The coversations BE (Before Event) was certainly robust and at times requiring moderation, but to me in my single opinion perfectly Ok and representing healthy debate. Arguably the major changes in the RAA that occured occured because of the robustness of that discussion. I personally would have voted for the status quo if I wasnt aware of the issues and hadnt, boots and all, engaged in the discussions. AE (After event) discussions are bland and relatively tastless to me. Of course I dont own and control this resource and absolutley agree that its Ians to control..... But in reality the quantity of posting has dropped I would have thought. Some will argue quantity isnt quality but I dont believe that the quality is suddenly better..... Anyway, for those words of wisdom, if that, I would gladly accept as payment $0 as being a fair judge of value......back to the elevator music Andy
