Guest Maj Millard Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Out to Montpelier Airpark at 9am saturday. I've got a leave pass to attend the Proserpine Aero Club BBQ, two hours away, with a planned departure at around 2.30pm. I've got a new fuel-pump to fit to the lightwing, and some ground runs, and a check flight to do before I head South. The weather forcast is not flash. 25/30 Kts of wind, scattered showers, and more on the way throughout the weekend. The plane is done around noon, but there have been showers on the hangar roof, and gusty winds. I make a couple of calls to friends in Proserpine and make a decision to cancel. I'd make it down today no drama, but probabily wouldn't get back in the morning, as I need to for commitments on Monday. While waiting to pull the plane out for some engine runs, a plane appears overhead, then another. It's John Gordon the instructor from Emerald, with three students in two aircraft finishing a long navex. Johns' been in with the low-wing storm before but it's the first time I've seen the new high-wing Serius. After a chat with them all, one of the students' wife picks them up, and they're gone. Nothing to do now but take some photos of the planes, and some ground runs and a test flight. The new Serius is quite stylish as the photos show, with a very roomy cockpit. I stayed over the top during the check flight, and took the opportunity to take some photos of Montpelier from above.. Sunday dawned with good soaking rain falling in Townsville, and throughout many areas of Queensland. The wet's arrived. Around 11am Sunday morning John sends a text saying they will go back to Emerald by road, and leave the planes at Montpelier for the week. Good decisions all round this weekend by all !..........................................................Maj...
