The new sister site dedicated to Aviation Enthusiasts called Aircraft Geeks is coming along nicely. It is designed to have different features then this site and for content that is specific to Enthusiasts that are into Aircraft Spotting, Photography (it will include a great big Photo Gallery), Aviation Videos (including a You Tube Browser), information on all the different Airlines, their Liveries, routes, tracking, airport web cams and much much more.

 

Aircraft Geeks is using the same colour scheme as Aircraft Pilots and you will be able to click between the two sites by a forum link in each one...if your interest also extends past being a pilot of an aircraft and are into the heavies etc that are flying around:

 

 

So we will have Aircraft Pilots and Aircraft Geeks that hopefully will help satisfy the needs of many of you

With the help of users here the Enthusiasts sister site has been renamed to Aircraft Enthusiasts (.com) and as ptreviously mentioned it is using the old software so we can have a powerful photo gallery, video library, articles and much more...the video chat room for the enthusiasts will be the old video chat room software...the cross over between this site and Aircraft Enthusiasts will be well defined between pilots and enthusiasts but overall will add a fantastic new dimension to our site...should be up and running in the next 1 to 2 weeks for ALL the pure Aircraft Enthusiasts:

Change of plan or name at least...replacing "Aircraft" with "Aviation" and being .net instead of .com so the enthusiasts site will be AviationEnthusiasts.net

Update on Aviation Enthusiasts (.net)

 

Most of the infrastructure is completed and the forums themselves are also completed including a better "Likes" system where you can actually remove a Like that you have given if the post gets changed by the user.

 

The News system is completed using an updated version of our "News Reader" where all the News is contained in one page and you can see the complete News item without leaving the page.

 

The Latest Aviation News in two columns is completed for the Home Page and after Aviation Enthusiasts goes live, the news section here on Aircraft Pilots will become more specific to non-commercial aviation news items as these will be on Aviation Enthusiasts (.net)

 

I am working on the Photo Gallery and Video Library at the moment.

 

Aviation Enthusiasts (.net) has a Blog System for users and a Resource Section for information on things like different aircraft (inc Boeing and Airbus), Airlines, Aviators, Museums, Airports, Spotting Areas etc etc etc.

 

There is also "Groups" so you can create your own "Interest Groups".
