Admin Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Although not aviation however as a reminder of what the weather can do all of a sudden, here are some photos of what happened at my place on our sunny Christmas day...finally a white Christmas in summer:
alf jessup Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Hi Ian, Hopefully you got out of it unscathed, a few of my friends copped it down Tarneet way damage to tiles house windows ect and cars banged up. We got the storm and lightning here at Sale but no hail, Must of been pretty bad as a Qantas 737 was diverted from Darwin approaching Melb and came to ESL RAAF base for 3 hrs, we saw it land. Alf
brilin_air Posted January 6, 2012 Posted January 6, 2012 Any damage Ian? We had large hail here and there were a few of the flying schools and the aircraft that the LAME was working on that were outside have had substantial damage done to them. We suffered a broken laserlite sheet in the hangar ceiling and several dents in the door and roof, but no damage to our plane. -Linda
Admin Posted January 6, 2012 Author Posted January 6, 2012 No Linda, no damage here...I am not sure whether Fords may have slightly thicker metal but two Holdens, who belonged to our visitors, had dents in them...my Fairmont Wagon and Sedan came through untouched

You have had enough in your life of recent times to contend with. I'm sorry to hear about the aircraft damage at Bacchus. How did Ballarat get on, anyone? No damage at Coldstream or Lilydale as I think it had done its worst before it got there. We only got a little hail and heaps of rain at St Andrews but I had to collect my drive from half way down the track. kaz

But then at the same time last year they were knee deep in snow... Gotta love the weather. Neil
