Guest ozzie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Don just posted a nice photo of 'The Dish' around 1300hrs on FB. Great weather today. Hope it holds for the week. From Don's travelling posts it sounds like he hasn't been out of the house for a year. :) Play safe. ozzie
Guernsey Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 10 nm north east of Adelaide at 550ft above sea level, sitting in my lounge on this computer. My Air Hostess wife is busy cooking me a meal. The view out of my window is spectacular looking out over the Adelaide plains. Weather for flying is perfect with no turbulance (the house has firm foundations). Current fuel consumption has been four hot cross buns and two Easter eggs estimate dinner in 42 minutes but I have to admit that I am jealous of you airborne illegitimates. Have a good time at Natfly. Alan Marriette. 4
biggles Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi Just a note to advise that Maj and Windsor68 have arrived safely at Temora . Tents erected.and are ready to rage ! Bob 2
PapaFox Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Should have mentioned it earlier, but in an on-going tradition, we have a pest-of-choice sharing the airfield during NatFly. Grasshoppers, mice, and this year is the turn for the MOZZIES! Big ones! Bring insect repellant if you can. You have been warned!

It might be an idea for you to purchase some repellants and resell them at the airfield....just a thought. Alan.
Bubbleboy Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Well, young Jack and I jumped out of bed at 3.30am this morning and left Tamworth for the 8 hour drive! 40kms south of Forbes the front wheel bearing decided to let go and make all sorts of grinding noises. NRMA to the rescue and a tow back to Forbes where the NRMA garage said they can fix it then and there. Well 6 hours later after several call outs he tells me he has the wrong part and it wont be ready till tomorrow! Had the nice NRMA man told me they were too busy to do it, I could have had it done else where and be at Temora now! Instead we are in a cabin at the local Forbes Holiday Park. Why is it I feel so calm inside but want to kill someone? :gaah:Maybe because the Holiday Park owner said this happens all the time and to make a complaint to the NRMA . While we were waiting for the car, lots of planes were flying over us to Temora . I swear , if this car is not first job up in the morning, there is going to be blood shed! Scotty 3
Powerin Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I swear , if this car is not first job up in the morning, there is going to be blood shed! Scotty Why do so many businesses these days insist on lying to you? If they had just said "Sorry, we had a heap of call-outs and couldn't get to your job" you could accept it. But this obvious lying to string you along has become standard practice these days! 1
mattbutton Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi Guys, am I correct in assuming shower facilities are onsite during the event for under wing campers.

Its called "Greed"! He got paid for the initial tow and wants the repair as well. You cant run a two tow truck business and do repairs with a 2 man band! Im very cranky with him! Scotty
Neil_S Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Hi Guys, am I correct in assuming shower facilities are onsite during the event for under wing campers. Yup
rankamateur Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 A super petrel went over here just before sun down , already had his landing light on, must have been planning to camp at Moree, I don't think he would have got further than that.
Blueadventures Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Ross and I are at 2500 feet and 76 nm out of Narromine. Planning to check out "The Dish" on our way into Temora in the next couple of hours. This is the life. . Great. Not far away from the destination now. If you have a chance on the way back Lightining ridge is worth a look and do the mine tour. Have fun. I'm envious. On Friday I hope to be at atleast 5,000 feet in the Blanik. She is the third to get airborne since the groundings excluding the Ruskies who are still flying, as I hear it. Cheers Mike
Guernsey Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Two recent phone calls confirm that the Morgan Aircraft squadron have all arrived safely (four aircraft I believe) and the two Foxbats from SA after a refuel at Hay. They are all armed with Mosquito Repellant. Alan.
Bubbleboy Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Yeah...39 hours since we left home and we are here! very warm too! 1

Hi Windsor and Ross.....sorry only just got your message. We are camping in the first camp area. Have a green and silver Mazda Bravo, the one with the shiny new wheel bearing! Scotty

Doug Evans Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Where the story's & picture of the adventure u having Donald & Ross ? 1
geoffreywh Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I'm sitting here (Friday) ready to go, watching the trees bend and buckle under the almost gale force (head) winds...I think that Temora is out for me this year.......
MrH Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 Incredible generosity from Maj (Ross ) this morning. He took me for a flight all around Temora area. The early morning shadows made it sectacular scenery :) Met up with Wndsor 68, who has travelled down with Ross. He seems to have volenteered to everything he can & is having a ball from what I can see. We met Old Koreleeah (unsure of spelling there) with his Jodel. Today Spacesailer started chatting to me & before long we realised that he was also a forum member. Captain is here in stealth mode mingling with the local rodents ...... Neil Sddwell & co owner Matt with freinds from Penfield in Vic are also here.... It's been more social than I'm used too but has been fantastic to meet these new faces & also to put faces to forum names. Think the industry support is down from previous years which is a shame. But overall a great event. Its fantastic having all the Sonex, RV & SAAA mob here. Actually there are quite a few VH aircraft here which I think is good. Not as many Rag & Tube as I had hoped for, maybe they will turn up Saturday. Cheers H
