PapaFox Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 One of the guys where I work had to do the same years back, and if I remember, it was also in a 310. He wasn't that close to Hawaii though.
Studentbiggles Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 Question?........Who and How is the A/C salvaged?.........or just a "Lot" of money went to the bottom of the ocean Often wondered how long the A/C will stay afloat or are they GPS's for retrieval ?..............................Alley
rdarby Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I don't think they would be salvaged. It would be damaged when it hits, and then the waves would break it up by the time a salvage boat was arranged. There would be a cost to a salvage boat, and when added to the damage from ditching, would possibly exceed the value of something like a Cessna. Used aircraft arn't that expensive. And it would sink anyway, one wave through a door would flip it and under it goes.
Guest Howard Hughes Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 I wouldn't want to fly an aircraft that had been in the sea, even for a short time!
