Gnarly Gnu Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Them's hefty birds.... "the Bombardier DHC8-315 sustained a big hole in its nose, and the dead bird was stuck in it, coast guard officials said. The hole was reportedly as wide as 1 meter."
J170 Owner Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yes, a pelican once shot past me at 1000' AGL near Blanchetown (SA). Had that come through the windscreen of my Jab it would have stung a bit.
winsor68 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I have a photo of a Cirrus cowl in a hanger with Wedgetail eagles hangin' off it... Will have to find it. Scary!
Guest pookemon Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I've seen wedgetail's at around 3500ft AMSL - but it was the butterfly at 2500ft on climb out that scared me - they're so fast!
