Guest Maj Millard Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 There had been a problem with the Cessna-type sash belt where it clips onto the buckle, for many years. They had a bad habit of disconnecting when needed. Cessnas' fix was to require a white plastic shim to be put onto the pin that the sash hooked onto, so it didn't come off so easily........................................................Maj...
Yenn Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Ignition mentions air bags. From what I have seen aviation air bags depend on the harness, they fit between you and your harness and inflate when needed, so you will need 4 points and the air bags spread the load over a larger area and also over a longer time span. Never even seen them but they seem like a good idea to me, but I would prefer never to have to depend on them. So far I have never "used" seat belts, but had them fitted to my cars long before they became a legal requirement. Some form of head restraint is the next thing for safety and in my opinion probably better than a helmet. The helmet adds weight to your head, but if we could have a belt just for the head it would make sense.
Guest Howard Hughes Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Four for me and a rearwards facing seat if I can get it! Note: All the seats in my aircraft face rearwards, except for mine...
