winsor68 Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Hey W68,I see you commented on the heartstopper vid on youtube a few weeks back, I saw it today and also commented on it, I actually know most of them down there and was not at all impressed with what I saw. Alf Do you mean not impressed by what was in the footage or things generally... I would hope that this was a very temporary lack of judgement. Do you reckon if we started a thread the video would disappear?
David Isaac Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Go to youtube and once in there type in heartstopper.wmv in the search engine and make sure you big screen it.Need I say more as you will see David Pretty scarey, and it was his first solo; the instructor must have been 'bricking it'; not to mention the poor bloke in the trike.

David, I think all involved in watching it were bricking it, I was just by watching the clip and I wasn't there thank god. Alf
turboplanner Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 So what were the qualifications of the Instructor?
winsor68 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I have posted a thread here... Just keep it civil and educational:augie: . There is always more to these events then a few minutes of video footage can convey... http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/microlight-first-solo-student-dices-with-death.55/
alf jessup Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 So what were the qualifications of the Instructor? Turbo, both well qualified instructors. PM me and i'll go into more detail. Alf
kaz3g Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Was the Camel 1 or 2 humps? could make a differance Definitely a Dromedary! kaz
kaz3g Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 ... I used to have a lot of Biggles books... they were a kids edition in fairly large print. I regret now giving them all away to a younger kid when I got to about 14... I would love to read them again... and I believe there were a lot more stories then the dozen or so I recall... Will have to visit the local second hand bookstore... I actually collect them. Have about 30 atm but always looking for more. He was obviously a pilot of talent, too... he flew Austers when he set up the Air Police after the war

If I recall the last time I saw a Biggles book (a collection actually) was in an antique book store in Townsville... would have been 10 years ago or more now. They were not cheap then... the impression I got was that they were getting harder to find. Are there any modern editions? It is amazing that no one has made a series of movies... I wonder why?
winsor68 Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Alas... We diverge yet again from the thread... Biggles thread created here... go and vote! http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/did-you-read-biggles-when-you-were-a-youngster.33767/
