Guest RogerRammedJet Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 OK, I know nothing about it, but - J430 took the photo out the left window while flying a Bonanza V35B along this track! He seems to have a few issues with his navigation! Rog
Guest J430 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Cheeky b@stard!!!!! No thats when someone starts on a VFR pland with an IFR plan programmed and .......lets just say the F/O was not as well informed at the PIC.......who was also the one one taking the photo's....... Guest J430 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 PS the idea was to see the lake on the way......which we did!!!!!! J
flie43 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 How about Boort, I think its Biggin Hill fly-in area Flie
BigPete Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Boort it is - last time I looked on Google earth there was water in the lakes. regards
flie43 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 Thanks Pete, Went to a fly-in there years ago. It was a great night with Jock--I think- stoking the huge fire with a front end loader Terry
PaulN Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Here's another, shouldn't be too hard. A nice strip to touch down on ... with a dip in the middle, "greasing it" is real easy. Paul
Flyer Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Launceston ? by any chance? last time I was in there was as a passenger in a DC9 in 83! I distinctly remember that dip in the runway though.... Regards Phil
PaulN Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Too easy Phil ;). Gone are the days you could just land, tie down your plane and walk off the field. At Launy the security vehicle rocked up pretty much as soon as we switched off with offers to help us out. He headed away while we refuelled, unpacked and tied down not to be seen again. So we had to walk all the way to the pax terminal and slip in though the RPT entrance ... good thing the ASIC was hanging prominently. Then to get back to the plane we had to find the security guy again to gain access to the field, but not until we left him with our name and address for billing . At least the CT was safe from terrorists . Paul

Geoff Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 Paul super glue is essential when traveling:devil::devil::devil: To "Fix" the gate so you can get back to your aircraft:blush:

flie43 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Ok, Ok, you have both lost me--any hints on the airfield. Coastal by the look and a long way from anywhere-what state? And whats the go with the super glue, sounds interesting Terry
PaulN Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Terry, at this early stage let's just say this strip is south of Cooma (YCOM), any more and it would be a give-away. Paul
PaulN Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Mallacoota Perhaps? No. Further south than that.
PaulN Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Flinders Island - Lady Barron No. Further south. Now that should help Terry, it's gotta be in either Tasmania or Antarctica .
flie43 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Yeh, not Lady Baron as I have landed there and a bit green for Antartica, so gotta be Tassie, hmm will get back soon Terry
flie43 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 How about Cape `Barron Island just south of Flinders
PaulN Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 How about Cape `Barron Island just south of Flinders Technically speaking, no . Cape Barren Island it is ;). Now let's see how good your research is, what are the rwy numbers?
flie43 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Nah, ya have me there Paul, my airfield /directory is in my flight bag at work but off google they about about, main runway is 08/26 magnetic
PaulN Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Yep, 08/26 with xstrips 01/19 and 13/31. This one should be a lot easier but I bet no-one will get it before next year. Paul
