PaulN Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 Thanks Mike, couldn't have done it without your clues ;).
flie43 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Looks like a bit near Menindee, but not sure if they have a cross strip Terry
Geoff Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Menindee it is Terry 10 of us had Lunch at the pub on Sunday
PaulN Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 My first thought was Menindee too but the AOPA guide threw me off the scent. It says both strips are Red Sand/Clay and your pic clearly shows the main is sealed. Oh well, don't believe everything you read. Paul
Geoff Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 You need to up grade your AOPA Paul to 2006 its out cheep now:laugh:
flie43 Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Thanks Geoff, Have had a few meals at the pub as well on the way to the St Pats races at Broken Hill. There never used to be a cross strip and it wasn't sealed until recently I think Terry
PaulN Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 My turn to go flying today, not far from home and hobbs time of 3 hours. Where's this one? Paul
slartibartfast Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 So that's what Khancoban looks like. You should have dropped in to Tumut Paul. George and Jack were going to check out their new hangar so I tagged. They left and I got a free BBQ with Peter Wilson and company. Then back at Goulburn for a rehydrate and a chat with the gyro gurus, and found there was daylight left. Rather be up there than down here thinks I, so I went here. Where's the wally?
Whack777 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Ahhhh ... Home Sweet Home... The Oaks! At least I hope it is otherwise there is a dual universe. Regards
Whack777 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 This is a hard one... Very close to The Oaks... not in any publications... but would be very interesting to fly to. Anyone got any ideas...????
Ultralights Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 thats an easy one, i have flown there many times..... though im not going to give the answer here, so some of the non locals can guess.
PaulN Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 So that's what Khancoban looks like. Yep, got it ... and so soon ;). Tumut was a wee bit off track for a drop-in visit Ross. Still, must get up there one day soon. So which strip is this then?
Whack777 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Come on Ultrlights... I think you had better tell us about it. What is it like to fly into?
Ultralights Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 to be honest, we didnt land there, not enough runway to get back out of safely. so it was normal approach and low pass. but you do need to ring the lady there to get permission to fly there, or she will get very upset. i was a pax as well
Whack777 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Ultralights knows where this is but hasn't spelt it out... does anyone else know? If not have a look at PaulN's picture and have a guess at that one. Regards
PaulN Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Hi Rob, I think I've seen that peak adjacent to the strip from the coast when tracking past the Gong. A look at the Sydney WAC shows a strip called Robertson at about the right spot. Is that it? Paul
Ultralights Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 nope, there is road access, but to get to the location, its a 5 hr drive, yet close enough from syd to still see the city lights over the horizon... how that to confuse you all!
Guest pecram air Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Let me have a guess is it (excuse the spelling) Yaranderrie.
Whack777 Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 Well done Pecram air and Ultralights. That was a hard one!... For those interested (I haven't been in there myself) you "must" get permission from the owner of the town. There is "Tiger" country all around too. Following link might be of interest. http://www.yerranderie.com/welcome.htm Regards
shafs64 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 it could be an easy one. but i am trying to figure out what it says on the hedge !! shafs
flie43 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I cheated, blew up the image and picked the Lat and Long and bingo, Riddell's creek. But I don't know what the hedge says but Ian could tell us as it is his home strip I think. Terry
Admin Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 - unfortunately it's not Riddells Creek - but the answer is in the trees
