Garfly Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Hey SD, As someone who's been somewhere, sometime - even thatwhere - I see that's your home-land; Quirindi. Well, how about this one? To make it easy I've even included the reciprocal view. 1
Garfly Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Yeah, ayavner ... and I think it's a fair bit wider. But you're warm. Even the Governor is right on.
Garfly Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Yep, it would! It's also been known as Belmont Airport over the years. It's only recently been reopened by a private consortium including Matt Hall and Airborne (Trike builders). I believe it's name will be changed soon to Lake Macquarie Airport. I'm not sure if the private owners are welcoming passing traffic yet. I've heard not. Maybe down the track. (I wonder how many aircraft will end up landing there expecting to find all the glitz of Port Macquarie [120nm up the coast] ;-) http://history.lakemac.com.au/page-local-history.aspx?pid=1085&vid=20&tmpt=narrative&narid=3919 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belmont_Airport http://www.abc.net.au/news/2014-10-30/belmont-airport-site-cleaned-up-ahead-of-reopening/5852796 1 1
ayavner Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 haha nice one - i've only overflown YPEC a couple of times, some reason i had in my memory it was a bit wider. PMQ is very nice, I think my best ever landing to date was there so maybe i am a bit biased hehe. Good one! 1

rankamateur Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Missed approach would be fun, power line on steroids and rising terrain.

SDQDI Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 No takers yet.Clue it is a short hop from Brisbane, this photo was taken on my second Nav. I thought I might be able to cheat on this one as I have no idea where it is but reading back through the 'gday all had my first lesson today' thread I found that while you narrated your learning experience very thoroughly you didn't mention locations of that particular nav:doh: But I'm not leaving without a guess. Would it by any chance be Kilcoy?
