PaulN Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 OK people, I collected a few more pics today (not long before everything was totally enveloped by smoke). First, the easy ones ... nocheers for second guesses. Paul
slartibartfast Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Approaching Tocumwal at about 1500' heading 225. I love google earth. How was it Paul? Good trip? I nearly bent the Jab on Sunday after promising you I wouldn't. Learned all about PIO (Pilot Induced Oscillation) on landing. Bloody tough airplane!
PaulN Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Hi Ross, Yep, told you it was easy. Great flight, take a look at the "Great Trips" thread for a bit more story. PIO? Is that another way of saying "wandering"? Don't you love some of these terms .;) OK, another easy strip (just for you Danda). Paul
BigPete Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Hey Guys, I recognise thatloop at the bottom of the picture - - it's an Irish Taxi way! regards
Captain Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Paul Were you in the Jabiru that came in there about 09.00 Tue morning, or where you in something else a little later? I departed Toc in a J160 about09.00 bound for Hay and held on the taxiway for a Jabiru to come in, but I don't see me in the pic? Regards Geoff

PaulN Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 I whent for a fly on Tuesday Where? Hi Geoff, I can't work out the first pic but I reckon the second (hazy view from about 3500') is Whyalla. You sure do get around mate. Paul
PaulN Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Hey Geoff, Darned if I can figure this picture stuff. How did you get those thumbnails onto your post? Paul

PaulN Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Ahhh, Cleve, looking NE. Looking at the WAC I would have expected to see some hilly stuff in the background but it all looks pretty flat in your pic. Perhaps I'm just too accustomed to hills that look like hills. Like I said Geoff, you sure do get about, like Cleve is 280nm from YMIA. Was this a day trip for the heck of it or what? Thanks for the tip on posting pics. Paul

Geoff Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Cleve it is. I went to a little place called Lock. Mate needed to have a look at a piece of machinery, was very impressed with the J160.Didn't get a pic of Lock "dumb" stayed over night in whyalla just for fun, 8hs round trip.
PaulN Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 Hey Guys,I recognise that loop at the bottom of the picture - - it's an Irish Taxi way! regards Irish taxiway . I know, I'm a bit slow ... I only just caught on to what you were talking about Pete, good one . Paul
PaulN Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 No takers for my airstrip pic posted Dec 28?? Where are you Danda? Here's another, not so easy to identify. So I'll give you a clue ... elev 5080ft (just a touch above coastal strips) with rwy 12/30. Paul
slartibartfast Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 The 28/12 one was too easy - so I left it. Holbrook. Today's can only be Cabramurra. The highest in the country. "Warning: Hazardous Wind Shear" Wish I had my XC so I could add a few photos, instead of guessing all those from lucky beeps like you Paul. Ross
PaulN Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Too easy Ross. Yep to both. For this next one you should sit on your hands again, OK. Which strip is this, AND, what's its elev and rwys? Paul
Student Pilot Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 No idea but were there Alpackers just near the hangers/machinery sheds and is the owner a pommie?
PaulN Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Thanks Chris, but that's no reason to stay away from the forum ;) Paul PS Think of all the reading he will have to do to catch up
PaulN Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 No idea but were there Alpackers just near the hangers/machinery sheds and is the owner a pommie? Onya Glenn, that's the one . Anyone else pick it? Paul
BigPete Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 OK here's another one. Less than 1 hour from Echuca. Sorry about the quality - very hazy. regards
BigPete Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Glad I don't fly like I post. Sorry Ian for the muddy footprints on your nice clean website. This is the pic for above posting regards
slartibartfast Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Hey BigPete. Let's see. Town on a river, 1 hour from Echuca, distinctive runway configuration, Corowa? I am doing my solo navex to there on Sunday and was drawing that runway into my notes last night. Edit: I take it back. I just checked ERSA and the runways aren't quite right. Can't be too far off though. Ross
PaulN Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I agree with Mike. Jerilderie at 67nm from Echuca that's about an hour in the Jab on a calm day ;). Paul
