Guest J430 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Paul On 278 degrees from YCAB you mean.....088 is mostly ocean last I looked. And would you believe the second one is YCAB, bit of roadworks eating into our airfield at present! J:)
PaulN Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Oops , back to Nav school for me. (Maybe this is why I like flying coastal.) I should have given 128nm on radial 268M from Caboolture for my cryptic answer. Or perhaps I should have been more direct and just said Chinchilla. Paul
PaulN Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 With all the talk about our inaugural recreationalflying.com fly-in at Camden Haven I thought I might drop this airfield pic in for someone (pelourus?) to identify. It's just about 2km south of Camden Haven so don't mistake it on your way in ladies and gents. Paul
Guest pelorus32 Posted May 6, 2007 Posted May 6, 2007 Hi Paul, I don't know the name of this one and in my time living and working in that area it wasn't sealed. It's a few kms south of the other strip and you don't get to see it when travelling north on the highway until you are almost past it. It always used to be a rag and bone strip and it ran up a hill. As i understand it the current owners have a light twin and they don't encourage others to use the strip. Interesting that it's sealed.... Regards Mike
Paul Willett Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 It that near the "Brothers" south of Kew on the Pacific Highway?
Paul Willett Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Always wondered about that strip - I used to drive past regularly between Pacific Palms and Port Macquarie whilst working down at the Palms for about 6 months a couple of years ago. One thing I noticed, the strip has lights, but you would need to know exactly how to get in there obstacle free at night.
PaulN Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 I heard through Alistair Menhennitt who used to pilot the bright yellow Cessna float plane out of Port that this strip's owner uses the property as a "weekender" and not looking to have others drop in, more the pity. Didn't know about the lights . As you say, with high ground nearby, night ops would be tricky. Paul

Geoff Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 No 20 is Darwin off the end of Rwy 11. I'd better Tell you all about Darwin before any body gets upset at seeing a Raau,s plane off the end of Rwy 11 It was with the Top end clubs fly around the city with Permission from Casa not above 1000 or below 500 ft and not over a built up area. And boy was it great ;););)
