old man emu Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Well, if you are a flightless bird like I am, you've got to get around using something that's big on style. Here's what I've just bought. OME 4
pudestcon Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Orrrhhh come on OME, where's the wings mate? Pud
Piet Fil Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Love the stick shift harleys. Thats early enough to have magneto advance isn't it?
old man emu Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 It's a 42 WLA that has been civilianised. It doesn't have magneto advance, but it does have manual timing advance - Retard to Start, then advance to run. And since emus can't fly, the need for wings is reduced. But it will take me to places where I can attach wings to my carcase. OME
Guest davidh10 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Now, that's a bike :-) Onya bike OME....
Neil_S Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Hi OME, Verrrry nice. However, if you want to combine the two then this month's EAA Sport Aviation mag has an article on the AeroMax (p. 110) , which they call the Flying Motorcycle. Now that's cool (probably literally - I wouldn't want to be wearing shorts when flying! ) Check out this Youtube clip :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqXb74T02uo Cheers Neil
winsor68 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 They look good don't they... I believe the kit has a Tasmania connection... Still prefer the original Airbike.
Guernsey Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I would be wearing aerodynamic boots up to the knees. Alan.
Guest Maj Millard Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Yes look would just like to try that feet-outside stuff !!.....................................................Maj...
petetheprinta Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Very nice....One of mine, 94 Ultraglide. If I get the Piccie right!! 3
fly_tornado Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 you look @ a new harley and an old harley and everything has doubled in size but the brakes
petetheprinta Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 you look @ a new harley and an old harley and everything has doubled in size but the brakes At least they have gone from very flakey drum brakes to two pot disks. Old Harleys didn't go fast enough to warrant decent brakes.
winsor68 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Now to sort out the bottoming out around corners and you might have something.... 1
fly_tornado Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 did yu hear about that bloke last week that hit a kangaroo, he ended up loosing a leg because the harley landed on it and he couldn't get it off his leg. scary stuff
winsor68 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 At least they have gone from very flakey drum brakes to two pot disks. Old Harleys didn't go fast enough to warrant decent brakes. They still don't have big fuel tanks because they don't run long enough to go far?
petetheprinta Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Now to sort out the bottoming out around corners and you might have something.... It's only the Softtails that have that problem, most of the range are pretty good, particularly the Dynas and Sporties.
spacesailor Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 My best was 1937 "BSA empire star" girder front fork solid rear, & foot gear shift. Bryan
pudestcon Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 They look good don't they... I believe the kit has a Tasmania connection... Still prefer the original Airbike. The kit certainly does have Tasmanian connections - in fact, my information is that the Tasmanian interests have acquired the business. There is some indication here of something happening http://www.jdtmini-max.com/ A mate of mine is building an Aeromax as we speak. He has just completed fabricating the wing ribs, and we had the plans out for the fin and rudder last week. It's been too hot just lately here in the West for him to do much. The kit appears to be very well manufactured and presented, also well packed for transport. Pud
