winsor68 Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 This one is interesting... $50 US for the plans CD... These plans are for the PB-1 only Goals of the PoorBoy designs are straight forward construction, and low cost http://www.poorboyaviation.com/ 1
JimG Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 Love it, what perfect little ultralight to build and play in............just oozes Drifter doesn't it . Just like the Affordaplane and Airbike , but it think this one looks a little 'cooler' JimG
winsor68 Posted February 11, 2012 Author Posted February 11, 2012 And a LOT simpler in construction it seems... I don't know the axxxend of airplane construction from the face... and I have a couple of cheap tools...But... still... I reckon it is the only way I am going to own an aeroplane...
old man emu Posted February 11, 2012 Posted February 11, 2012 I love a design where the designer incorporates a ballistic chute - just in case .... But interesting, nevertheless. OME

old man emu Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 STOP! STOP! STOP! (Oh, sorry, just practising for my first ride) OME 1
winsor68 Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Here is a similar plan built design from a respected company... Circa Reproductions BEAMCRAFT http://www.recreationalflying.com/threads/circa-reproductions-beamcraft-ultralight-plan.34488/

winsor68 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I recently saw a Chinook up close for the first time... Looking inside the wing I found that the ribs are attached to the front spar using what looks like Metal Hose Clamps... I don't know whether they are bunnings off the shelf items but what an elegant and simple solution....
aj_richo Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Looks like the frame has been put together with hardware grade bolts... in that case.. RUUNNNNNN..! ..although in the doco he does specify AN hardware must be used
winsor68 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 For sure el richo... If you were building your own you would certainly use AN throughout for structural components... I guess the Chinook I saw uses an AN houseclamp.....? You gotta love nice simple solutions to seemingly complex problems....
Gnarly Gnu Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Looking inside the wing I found that the ribs are attached to the front spar using what looks like Metal Hose Clamps... Cheap. Sounds like they couldn't afford zip-ties. 2
