This looks really workable. Full of trick ideas. Tilts around corners and how is that folding prop? 2014 delivery date would be achievable too with some cash thrown at it.

I love the folding prop as well. I think getting that baby really well balanced may be quite a task.

 

I am not sure whether you can register new three-wheeled vehicles any more. I was quite surprised at the 680 kg empty weight too.

 

The Terraflugia fits into the US LSA legislation (600kg limit including plane, passengers, fuel and baggage) and it has four wheels. The Maverick flying 4WD car also fits the 600kg/1320 lb rule although it was designed for 1500 lbs if any nation allows that to go on their register.

 

I hope the potential investors for the PAL-V will be very patient for their first delivery mid-century. I think I remembered hearing on one of their promotional videos that the Maverick will start delivering flying cars from their production line mid-year.

Although it does bring up a question I have had about flying cars for some time. When your driving along the road, is that counted toward your engine TBO? Surely it would have to be which would mean in the long run those few KM's of road time would become very expensive wouldn't they???

That's a good point, Louis, that may be the Achilles Heel of the flying car unless you have very deep pockets. This raises a couple more questions:

 

Q1 What about if a driver does a bit of "low flying" along Highway 1, would that go into his/her pilot log book?

 

Q2 If you park the machine in your garage at night, should this be the Gangar rather than the Garage?

 

I am sure there are many more such 'identity crisis' questions.............

Nah, flying cars are fantastic. And the Maverick for example looks like equally a fun car (well buggy if you prefer) as a flying one.
