Was impressed with , among other things , the lack of vibration so assume the camera was fixed somewhere . Have been thinking about getting one of these . Still at Farri's waiting for the low cloud to lift . Did another beach landing yesterday in the Drifter .Hard holding the IPad doing 55 knots but have some good video . Will work out how to post it when we get back - I guess Utube. Later today I will once again be mesmerized by young Frank and his guitar , as I try to imitate him. Bob -Linda
alf jessup Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Good job Brian. Enjoyed it and yes a nice position for the camera and no vibes. Alf
rick-p Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Great, it's good and clear no distortion. I await the vid taken from outside the aircraft.
Guest pookemon Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Hi Linda, Nice Vid - the GoPro is a great little camera. What mode did you video it in? The video is 4x3 aspect, but the GoPro does "Widescreen". Did you adjust it to remove distortion? (The 1080p can be set to "Narrow" which give an almost distortion free image, but I prefer to use 720p at 60fps). Was that on Thursday Morning? I flew Thursday arvo - it was a magnificent day for it!
Vev Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Hey Brian, I knew that 3300 would be fast in the 160 but that was a quick trip Good stuff guys. Cheers Vev 1
brilin_air Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Thanks guys for the input, it was filmed at 960p at 48fps which worked, we are still playing with the different settings and would welcome someone with more camera knowledge to suggest what settings we should have. We are more of a point and shoot, and if it works, that was good type of photographer. It was taken on thursday morning 10/5 and it was a great day for flying in Vic. Vev , if you look close in the middle of the film you should be able to see the ASI reading about 130, (top left of the dash) which isn't too shabby to get around at. Thanks everyone, soon as we get the outside mount done we will try and post some more. Brian and Linda:happy:
Guest Howard Hughes Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Just a quick question, when you buy a Go Pro, do you get any kind of editing software with it? Cheers, HH.
brilin_air Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Just a quick question, when you buy a Go Pro, do you get any kind of editing software with it?Cheers, HH. Howard. The GoPro Hero 2 has this software that you download from the website: http://gopro.com/support/ There is a editing software called "GoPro cineform studio" This is what you use to download the video from the camera which converts it to windows live video maker, from there you can make it a movie. This is how we did it. It seemed to work well. Any questions please ask, and I will try and help where I can. -Linda
Guest pookemon Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I haven't tried the Cineform app (I do know that's useful for producing 3D video) - but I can recommend Adobe Premiere Elements (which is $100 or $150 IIRC). It has loads of transitions, image processing etc. Very easy to use and can output pretty much any movie format (including direct upload to Youtube). I just copy the video's off the camera onto my HDD and then import it into a Premiere project. I was stuffing around with it on the weekend and came up with the following in about an hour:
brilin_air Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Pookemon, Thanks for the recommendation, will look into it. You were out and about on Thursday in Ballarat in the arvo? We were there, and saw the yellow canary doing circuits! We have a friend who has a J230 in the aviation hangar, and Brian was doing some maintenance on it. Next time we are up in Ballarat, we must catch up. -Linda
Guest pookemon Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Yep - that was me - I was sitting at work thinking it was too nice to be at work - so I booked Tweety and boy was it worth it! There was a Jab up and about (79...?) while I was up - was that the J230?
brilin_air Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Yes that was Brian taking the 230 for a test flight to check something . 7918 is the rego, if you see it around go and have a talk with Tony the owner, he is a really nice person to meet and talk with, like most Jabiru pilots - Linda
