StephenL Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 It says to say hi so “hullo”. I’m in Oz… haven’t flown in decades (did a commercial, instructor’s etc in the US) now looking at building a Flitzer Z3 - absolutely no experience in that regard. At present I’m interested in learning folk’s experiences in obtaining & bringing in Corvair engines to Australia. Been trolling through the relevant sites - William Wynne, Roy’s Garage etc.
eightyknots Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Welcome to Aircraft Pilots, Stephen. I found this Flitzer (without the Z3 designation) on youtube.com. Is this the plane you're thinking of building?
StephenL Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 That’s the one. That particular Flitzer is in Perth Western Australia. I’m on the east side. The Z-3 variant [see www.flitzerbiplane.com for all of ‘em] is designed to better accommodate us larger longer folk plus have more range. To do so it ups the original VW type engine to something in the 100hp range - hence my interest in Corvairs. I’m considering starting teh project with the engine first.
