ecwrite Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Hi, I'm a film student and I need some advice about a project. I need one of my characters to be a commercial pilot (present day United States) who has lost his license due to shady behavior such as sexual harassment, a DUI, or possibly drinking while flying. So I have a few questions. Can the license of a pilot be revoked or suspended because of any of these reasons? If so for how long/how serious? Would it be possible for the pilot to gain back his license through proper channels and waiting periods to become a commercial pilot once again? If so, how long would it take? I look forward to any advice. Thanks.
turboplanner Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 Might be a good idea to have a look at the Professional Pilots Rumour Network where those guys hang out. Plenty of juicy stories there, like the one on this link (who was not the US Pilot you are looking for. http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-aviation-questions/487144-barry-hempel-inquest-13.html
djpacro Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/ash/ash_programs/investigations/airmen_duidwi/ answers the query about DUI. Sexual harrassment will require expert opinion from my colleagues here. Some consider it mandatory for jet fighter pilots. One female instructor I know is from New Zealand and recently asked me about my chicklist. I thought that I was being sexually harassed but she denied however continued to browbeat me about chicklists. She is in no danger of losing her licence in Australia. 6
