Compulsion Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I have a current Glider licence with Passenger and Cross Country endorsements. If I want to convert to flying a Jab 160 what do I need to do and pass. I know it takes different lengths of time for each student. I know you don't want anyone to be unsafe. I just want to know what the regs actually say. If there is no allowance for the Glider Licence then that is fine.
kaz3g Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 I think that one hour is allowed for every ten hours in gliders up to a total of ten hours towards a PPL but you need to talk to Ops and find out what might be the case with RAAus. Kaz

I had 10 hrs taken off my GA training because I had a glider lic. and did a cross county flight plus an 8 hr flight and some minimum altitude thing. Call up RAA what hoops you have to jump through.
Ballpoint 246niner Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This information is covered in the ops manual online on the RA Aus website under"flight crew" and is covered by the converting applicant forn. I am in the process of training a converting glider pilot at present and assuming you are beyond GFA solo standard the process should be relatively painless and fun. See you chosen RA school and they'll get you on your way. Good luck.
