dazza 38 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 There is still alot more of Part 61, (including the RPL) to come out.The medical stuff in the news letter is only a little part of it. (Google- CASA part 61). 1
djpacro Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 That's right dazza, but Parts 61 and 91 were drafted a decade ago and judging by the extent of AOPA's submission against the latest draft Part 91 and all the blanks in the latest draft Part 91 it will be another decade before we see them - despite CASA promises that they are high priority and will be released by Xmas of whatever year they made the promise and the government White Paper stating ..... Australian Flying magazine has it right with their comment that many PPLs already fly within these restrictions so they can simply drop the onerous medicals and continue happily ever after. Just read an article in EAA's Sport Aviation magazine about a guy who built a Pitts in 1971 but it scared him and he only did 35 hours over the next 20 years. Despite owning other aeroplanes he kept the Pitts until he passed away at age 86 in 2001. That same Pitts is still going well. I hope to be flying my Pitts for many years yet - the good thing about this new medical rule - I've seen so many people give up in despair with battling CASA medical branch, not with real medical issues but with their bureacracy and the cost. 1
dazza 38 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Im going out on a limb, but I predict that by 2050, it will all be finalised at implemented.

Guernsey Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Im going out on a limb, but I predict that by 2050, it will all be finalised at implemented. They are going to have to change the rules again by then, because I will not be getting a medical, it will be an autopsy. Alan.
68volksy Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I still have hope. CASA setup their team to get all these new bits and pieces out there only a few weeks ago and we've already seen the first part roll out. The hardest part with all this stuff is getting the education out there so we know what all the new changes mean. Good chance you'll be seeing your friendly Aviation Safety Advisors rolling around with presentations and visiting organisations over the next 6-12 months.

Love him or hate him, John has in short time at CASA got things happening.Pretty sure he wants to see a few things implemented before he retires .
djpacro Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Agreed dazza, it is not an easy job. Byron had some good objectives but didn't manage to get the wheels spinning let alone get them unstuck. McCormick owns a single seat aerobatic aeroplane so is a recreational pilot as well. There is a feedback button on the CASA website which send an email to him (and his helper) and I know he reads them and responds if appropriate.
