Guest Redair Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 Greetings each, please excuse the very slow typing, but I am only able to use one hand at the moment, following surgery. Now, having been dragged kicking and screaming, (no not out of theatre) but into the 19th century... I was not really impressed with all of that steam-powered lark, I decided to take a bold leap forward with tecknowledge-ee, (the word created from the knowledge of technical things, followed by the noise I often make due to the confused state I find myself in trying to understand it all). As you will no doubt realise, I'm not 5, so I just don't get this stuff straight away any more. Well I would do if only I could find explanations in plain English and which don't all pre-suppose the tecnohow that everyone who has continually upgraded will already have. So, finally, with all that in mind, my question... having just bought a "Smart" phone, I have seen reports of OzRunways, which soounds like it might be useful, the problem is, as I do not own an "i" type device, (mine apparently comes with some kind of ice-cream dessert, which I can't seem to get out of the very flat packaging) can I download OzRunways, or is it just for you Apple-types? Please excuse dumb question, but I haven't caught up yet. Redair.
Guest Redair Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Ah, that would be about right! Never mind, I guess it will give me the excuse I need to justify buying Aware, or similar. That is if I can ever get back to finishing the plane. Can't go back to work yet, stuck at home staring out of the window at the shed, watching the days go by... it's enough to drive a person mad, OK, got to go, I think Judge Judy is about to start, can't miss that:crazy: Redair.
sain Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 There are some other not quite so cool apps you can use. Check out OruxMaps, or OziExplorer for android.
horsefeathers Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Another couple of Android apps you could look at are - Bearing + Distance AN-NZ - Androzic (uses oziexplorer maps) But I think the major issue for using Android apps for flying is the inability to source the electronic maps since the demise of MapTrax - please someone correct me if I'm wrong
eightyknots Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I am now the owner of a brand new Samsung phone (Galaxy S-III) and I would be interested in finding useful apps as well. I'd love to find out about any good Android applications Forumites have come across.
