turboplanner Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 The Policy spells out who can do what and when. Quite often the matter is taken out of your hands because of the contract terms.
68volksy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Was wondering on whether insurance would payout as I was watching several guys flying the other weekend when NOTAMS were out closing the runways. My gut feeling is it's one of the first things an insurer would check for?
Sapphire Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Read the PDS and then understand it. Flood victims paid all their life to get nothing-don't go on the advertising hype. It's not legally binding and deliberately untruthful.
cscotthendry Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Pure and simple, insurance companies are in business to make profits. There was a time when insurance companies were about spreading risk, but now, since the rise of "Shareholder Capitalism" they're run for profit; first, foremost and only. Finding ways to NOT payout is the centrepiece in that business strategy. 1
fly_tornado Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I have CoverMore Travel Insurance when I went to the states last year. Anyhow, the train from Denver to NE was cancelled due to a bridge getting washed away. Rang them and they said "sure you are covered just send us the receipts when you get back". I get back and start a claim and they tell me "no go", so I get on the phone and start grinding this young guy down. After 15 minutes he had enough and my claim was approved.
Sapphire Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 start grinding this young guy down. After 15 minutes he had enough and my claim was approved. currently reading http://www.sportaviationonline.org/sportaviation/ <:aside>Of course they try. I've been given the run around returning faulty goods. So and so is not here, "bring back the whole thing" that took a day to put together and you were told on the phone to bring the part in, who did you talk to [always get the name so you cant be screwed around on that]] Give them a mean look as if you are deranged and the service will flow.
